Abstract

This review showed that a total of 161 fish species inhabit in the Turkish Black Sea according to previous studies. Atlanto-Mediterranean species consisted 62.73% of total fish fauna, 6.83% cosmopolitan, 28.57% endemics and 1.86% introduced species such as, Liza haematocheilaSphraena obtusata and Salmo salar. For the protection of the fish diversity in the Black Sea needs to establish marine protected areas, get under control of illegal, unreported and unregulated fisheries, regional cooperation and concerted action.

Abstract

The sterol content of Laurencia obtusa var. pyramidata (Hudson) J. V. Bory ex. J. Agardh collected from Igneada, in the western part of the Black Sea coast of Turkey, was analyzed. They were cholest-5-en-3-ol (cholesterol), β-sitosterol, ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3-ol (ergosterol), 24-norcholesta-5,22(E)-dien-3β-ol, cholest-5,22(E)-dien-3β-ol, ergosta-5,24(28)-dien-3β-ol, 27- orergosta-5,22(E)-dien-3β-ol, ergosta-5, 22(E)-dien-3-ol, 23(S)-methylcholesterol, 23(S)-ethylcholesterol. The latter four were found in Laurencia species for the first time.
